Idea: New landing-page (instead of environments)
After setting up all my environments, webhooks, etc. I was wondering if that's the information I want to see when opening chucky.
If you don't open chucky in your browser to set up new hosts, sign fingerprints, encrypt passwords or look into puppetboard for details, I guess there are two (maybe more?) main reasons to open the website:
- to get a general overview of my hosts and their deployment-"status"
- search for errors in the "deployment-stack" (did environment pull my latest changes, etc.)
So, my idea would be to make a simple landing-page with a table (host, environment, Last updated (env) and deploy-status). deploystatus should be "green - running and deploying correctly, yellow - puppet agent disabled / not running, red - deployment failing". That's quite similar to the startpage in puppetboard after selecting an environment.
What do you think?
